As much as I understand the employers' point of view, I don't believe that it's always only a matter of bottom line (come on, more often than not companies can easily pay the salary of a few interpreters without going bankrupt). Don't you think the fact that many hearing people are very hesitant about interacting with a Deaf person (let alone hiring one!) also plays a big role?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522530.post-1150227163022924842006-06-13T15:32:00.000-04:002006-06-13T15:32:00.000-04:00ahh. ooo boy. good post. glass ceiling -> brick wa...ahh. ooo boy. good post. glass ceiling -> brick wall. fantastic line. give me some time to think about this...Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15288732163125976401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522530.post-1150198697465345582006-06-13T07:38:00.000-04:002006-06-13T07:38:00.000-04:00Gunderson mentioned few times at Mike McConnell Bl...Gunderson mentioned few times at Mike McConnell Blog. But I also agree there's definitely a need to think out of the box and craft ways to ensure things work out and accomodate everyone without compromising our needs and desires. It's the kind of conversation that I hope we can have now that people are seriously dissecting what it means to be deaf.Mr. Sandmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05791367541101761021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522530.post-1149942922396948522006-06-10T08:35:00.000-04:002006-06-10T08:35:00.000-04:00i think, any bureaucrats, but i want to see our co...i think, any bureaucrats, but i want to see our community think outside the box too. you know how many gay men say only other gay men know how to make them feel good? same way, only deaf people will know how to make the technology that makes deaf people successful. everyone else will fail; they cannot know.JRShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02485752215710916988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6522530.post-1149881497500884762006-06-09T15:31:00.000-04:002006-06-09T15:31:00.000-04:00Amen!
